In Her Garden by MoreVespenegas In Her Garden by MoreVespenegas
There has been a lack of drawing from me recently as I am busy with other stuff. I did finally finish this Roseluck painting. Not quite satisfied with how it turned out, which might explain why it took so long to finish and it's a bit cluttered.

Ah, the travails of being an earth pony. When something is out of reach, instead of being a flap or a flash away you have to go looking for a stepladder.

As I look at this, I actually feel as though I could reach down and touch her, nicely done!

It looks like the rose is just out of her reach.

The angle is no doubt a toughy to do, what with perspective and all and coordination. I feel that this is pretty well done, and it's obvious that effort was used to make it all fit right.

Well done!

The angle wasn't too hard to pull of technically but compositionally I feel it made things very cluttered. Maybe if I had more distinct layers for the background it would have pulled it off better.

Do you mind if I ask how many layers did you use for the background, if you remember?

Sure, it was 2 for the background, 3 for the basket and 2 more for the flowers.

2 for the background? Wow, I don't know a whole lot of artists that can do what you've managed with 2 for background! :wow:

Well the background is just fence, grass and path. The more detailed stuff is in separate layers. I would probably need more before but I have gradually started working with layers over time.

Woo, dat perspective! Very nice! Such amazing detail in this drawing too. I love how the rose has the viewer's attention more than Roseluck. Fantastic work!

Yeah it went through a few iteration in the thumbnail stage before I decided to push the perspective more than I'm usually comfortable with.

Thanks, the focus shifted around in my thumbnails a bunch and I decided to go with this one because I tend to have tame perspectives a lot.
