Faux Pas by MoreVespenegas Faux Pas by MoreVespenegas
Never wake a sleeping dragon

This one I made because I haven't done a low value painting in forever. First time drawing a dragon, got some good tips so I think he turned out okay, could be worse.

Ooooh, loving the dark tones in this. It's so dramatic.

Man, I love this. I hope she isn't too greedy, although her cutie mark suggests otherwise. Seriously, a golden chalice? That just screams 'I am here to take all of your treasure!'

If she knows what's good for her I think she'll leave all the treasure alone.

You have to be careful when exploring deep dark caves, hasn't she learned anything from Snips and Snails?

"There he lay, a vast red-golden dragon, fast asleep; a thrumming came from his jaws and nostrils, and wisps of smoke, but his fires were low in slumber. Beneath him, under all his limbs and his huge coiled tail, and about him on all sides stretching away across unseen floors, lay countless piles of precious things, gold wrought and unwrought, gems and jewels, and silver red-stained in ruddy light."

"She had heard tell and sing of dragon-hoards before, but the splendour, the lust, the glory of such treasure had never yet come to her. Her heart was filled and pierced with enchantment and with desire; and she gazed motionless, almost forgetting the frightful guardian, at the gold beyond price and count."

The more I look at this the more it seems Smaug inspired, even though I didn't plan that at first.

Maybe, a good show none the less! That quote from The Hobbit describes it pretty well.

The glint and glimmer of gold and jewels
Brought forth by lantern's little glow

Beware of threats untold you fools
Many things these caves don't show

A menacing growl and a turn of your head
He won't say "hi" he wants you dead

A sheepish grin, your lantern's out
Scaly skin, is that a snout?

That's quite enough adventure for one day, so turn around and run away
A bit cowardice some my say, but at least you'll plunder another day

~Your drawing inspired me to rhyme... That's very strange.

Wow that's pretty nice, not that I know anything about prose.
But it's great that my art inspired something. :D

Well, considering that the pony is still alive, it certainly isn't among the most malicious of its kind.

MLP dragons seem to be a reasonable lot as long as one does not steal from their hoard or hit them on their noses.

It didn't start out that way in the sketch but it got to the "dragon sitting on pile of gold" which so popular in western culture eventually. Just in time for the movie as well.
