Everfree Expedition by MoreVespenegas Everfree Expedition by MoreVespenegas
Trying to push things in this one. Keep trying to push things until they break, then figure out why I broke them. The last Luna being a good example, this one not nearly as broken.
So yes, the denizens of the library are in the Everfree Forest. Twilight doesn't have her wings because that's how I still see her. Not against the change or anything but I haven't seen her with wings for more than half an episode so it hasn't really sunk in yet.

Owloysious is so damn cute!
Though I imagined the Everfree with more (dark) shades in it.
I also like the mushroom details.

I LOVE how you made the forest! It's the kind of art I aspire to create. :)

"Twilight doesn't have her wings because that's how I still see her. Not against the change or anything but I haven't seen her with wings for more than half an episode so it hasn't really sunk in yet."

I feel exactly the same way. :) Right now, at least, if I were to make a casual Twilight drawing, she'd most likely be without wings. She would have them if it was a more themed drawing.

Thanks, I think I would draw Twilight with wings if the picture calls for it but I do see her as without them right now.

The right or left one? What's wrong with it?

Right one. It's not supposed to be bent; that would imply when straight, it is longer than the front legs. And that violates basic quadrupedal anatomy.

Well pony anatomy is pretty varied but in the show the gaskin is almost horizontal when the pony is resting on the leg so I don't think the legs are supposed to be the same size though maybe I'm just looking at them wrong.

I'm just saying it would be very easy to modify a painting made digitally (everything is erasable).

Yeah it wouldn't be much of a problem but I usually don't come back to work on my stuff after I post it. Any critique I do keep in mind for stuff in the future.

Thanks. I originally intended it to just be a cliff going down but one of the comments was that it looked like a river so I decided to make it a lazy river at the bottom instead.

I love that ivy/moss/clover on the tree/bridge. Also, the bull horns for roots is a nice touch.

The whole thing gives me a sense of temperature and atmosphere. Lovely.

Interesting, I did not mean to make horns, just twisty roots but it definitely turned out like that. Wonder what that means. I bet Freud would know. :D

That's definitely one of the most interesting things about being any kind of artist, being able to extract possible, hidden references and meanings in your work. Of course not everything has to be, ahem, Freudian.

I, personally, enjoy writing music and asking my friends what they see in their mind's eye. It can be surprising. What about you? Have you asked others any synesthetic questions?

I find it pretty neat to analyze art. Sometimes you find above the obvious something the artists put there perhaps even subconsciously. However you don't really know if it's their subconscious at work or yours when you're interpreting it. I think good creative work is partly like a rorschach test. Part of the story is told by the artist but the blanks are filled in by the viewer.
Of course I'm just learning fundamentals and techniques so that is mostly absent from my work.

Other than that last line, you took the words right out of my mouth. All good art is like this. Heck, even the bad stuff has it. I'm sure you're familiar with the idea of the six-word story. The idea of leaving your work open to interpretation is wonderfully engaging for the audience. You try to hit certain emotions, but you inadvertently activate their hidden ones. Almost like secret achievements.

Keep at it. So far I've loved your style and insight.
