'Dry Run' by MoreVespenegas 'Dry Run' by MoreVespenegas
The Stable Dweller and company on a rescue mission in Zebra Town.
Currently they are attempting to rescue as much rain from touching the ground as possible.

Littlepip is winning.

EDIT: Forgot to add that this is based of characters from Fallout: Equestria by Kkat. Just sort of assumed everyone would know that.

So this took a longer time in coming because I was working on another piece I ended up scrapping as it wasn't working out. Still it took less time then I thought it would when I got going on it.
Some things I'm still not sure about it. Having a scene lit up by an overcast sky and having everything wet made for some contradictory light to dark transitions and I'm not sure I pulled it off.
On the plus side I don't think I strayed from cannon this time. I usually have memories that differ in slight ways from the story so when I draw without researching properly things tend to... not quite coincide.

Thanks. That fic really has a lot of great art made for it, I really recommend you read it if you have time and like that sort of thing.

I'm afraid I'm not into reading fanfics... I prefer to hear about them from others and have them tell me about it. It's not like I'm purposely trying to leech information off of people, I just don't have the patience to read that long of a series.

I understand, fanfics aren't for everyone.
Then again, I thought they were not for me before and now I can't wait for Murky Number Seven and Project Horizons to update so who knows.

"Dry run." I saw what you did there. That trip was brutal, don't even get me started on Canterlot.

Canterlot was a cakewalk.
If the cake was filled with pink cloud. And alicorns. And ghouls.
On second thought it was nothing like a cakewalk.

Thank you so much, for both compliment and the really awesome, amazing story. I was really taken in by the constant description of Zebratown and wanted to show how the characters felt at the end of it. It was a really powerful scene for a number of reasons. Thanks again for your amazing work.

Thanks, I've been practicing that a lot in recent pieces, especially space, but I feel some other parts are neglected. Something I'll be focusing on in the next one.

whoa, while there are so many anatomy errors I could mention, you somehow managed to make it look...real nice. I mean the overall ambience and-I don't even know how to explain it. maybe it has to do with the fact that you didn't use lineart but...bravo.

Please mention any errors, anatomy or otherwise. Critique always helps.
Unless you mean how it diverges from show style, in which case it was deliberate as I am exploring other styles.

a redline would be easier than explaining every single detail. but I'm too lazy to do that, so I'll just mention the most obvious details. (where's deviantart's Muro when you need it?)

heads: They don't exactly look that round, the easiest example would be 'Pip. her chin/throat area is a bit too big, so her face looks kinda fat there. it may be because you draw faces a bit too high, and had to add a little extra on the bottom part. when the jaw's line connects to the neck, it shouldn't be pointing down, unless the character is looking up.

Bodies: I get the impression you're missing the rib cage, it look like you're just drawing two curvy lines from the neck to the hips, most noticeable on Xenith and Steelhooves. I don't really know how to help you other than telling you to look at references and tutorials.

legs: it's not just one articulation and a hoof, they're actually not so different from our arms. there should be the shoulder, elbow and wrist, and then the hoof. the distance between the shoulder and elbow is smaller than ours, and the forearm is longer. the elbow should be at about the same height as the knee.

to be honest, the eyes kinda creep me out, like they're too human-ish, but maybe that's just me.
lighting's great, colors are nice. I think that's the best part about this drawing.
don't be shy to look at different artists, take references, and learn from their works. I don't think anyone got their own styles without being influenced by other artists.

For the chest, do you mean to expend it forward more? I was told to tone that down in he past. Anything in particular you don't like about the eyes? I've only done show style ovals before but I want to get away from that.

no, I meant that you should give it a shape, because they're like worms. their torsos are just awkward curves, like the rib cage isn't there at all.

for the eyes, just look at other artists. like :iconatryl: :iconmistermech: :iconcaramelbrulee: :iconhinoraito: :iconkp-shadowsquirrel: :iconfamosity: :iconsoulspade: :iconfore-trekker: :iconmi-eau: :icontiaamaito: [link] find what you like and don't like, and keep it in mind next time you want to draw. heck, you could try to just draw a page full of eyes until you're satisfied.

Love how you made the rain hit their bodies, the attention to details is amazing aswell, all the weapons on littlepip, steelhooves armor etc. And that look on Pips face, it just screams determination.

I originally drew Velvet but when I re-read the chapter I realized she wasn't even there. She stayed behind in Glyphmark.
I am kicking myself for forgetting that Pyrelight was there. I just remembered this morning and it would have solved my lighting woes with this piece. Oh well.

Yeah I do like how the rain turned out, and it was way simpler than I thought it would be. On an unrelated note I can't wait for your Rampage piece. Maybe add Steelhooves into it? Two immortal, diametrically opposed ponies wondering the wastes, you just know they had a run in at some point.
